Job Beast - Applicants in the Waiting Room

ABOUT US

Our founder came to the realization that job-hiring processes are flawed and biased based on their own personal experience:

A few years back, I made the decision to take a break from entrepreneurship and return to the job market, where I assumed every company would compete to hire me because of my skill set. With 13 years of proven experience, specializing in digital products from consumer to B2B, I had confidence that my comprehensive knowledge would benefit many companies. The reason for my transition was personal; my beloved father had passed away that year, and I wanted a stable environment to escape the volatility of the startup world. I embraced the change with an open heart and aimed to pursue a career in product management in one of the top tech corporations.

Unfortunately, to my dismay, I was surprised to discover that companies weren't jumping at the opportunity. There were some job opportunities, but they were scarce and unresponsive. Most of my job applications went ignored. It didn't take long before I realized that something was wrong and asked for feedback. A friend who worked at an international corporation told me the truth: companies didn't like my profile for two reasons. First, I had been an entrepreneur for most of my career (although I had also worked for a corporation), which their HR managers interpreted as instability. The second reason was ageism – I was 40 at the time, apparently too old for some of these companies.

After six months of agonizing experiences that left me feeling unhappy and shattered my self-confidence, I decided to tackle this problem as an entrepreneur. To get myself out of that situation, I had to think outside the box. I conducted thorough research on job searching and realized that I wasn't alone. Many others faced the same dehumanizing bias that made their job search feel almost impossible.

Based on my research, I concluded that to fight the work-hiring beast, you need a job-search beast. To fight a beast, you need a beast. So, I took massive action and developed a prototype of The Beast in just four weeks. That prototype solved my personal problems and had significant implications on my life – I found a great job and put my career back on track.

Now, it's time to share this message with others. My passion is to help people from underrepresented groups find great jobs.
